I Owe You All An Apology

I would like to apologize to everyone for not being able to provide the element pack for the blog train as promised.  Once again "real life" intervened and prevented me from doing something I promised to do.  I won't trouble you with the gorry details here.  I have a couple of other obligations I need to fulfill but want you to know that I will finish the pack in the next couple of weeks and will post it HERE on my blog rather than my FB page.

We are gearing up for our annual Relay For Life event here on March 29th.  I have been working on getting my luminarias decorated by the end of this week.  Please let me take this opportunity to encourage you to participate in your local Relay For Life.  Patients and Survivors alike so appreciate your support.  Cancer is a demon we MUST defeat!  These Relay events are not only to raise funds for research, but are educational and FUN!

Hey y'all!   Well, Mardi Gras is over and our local parade and parties were a huge success as always!  My granddaughter hosted a gathering at her house that provided tons of fun and food!  We had a new addition to the party goers this year.... my great-granddaughter, Emma Ann!  I think she was sleeping as the parade went by ( she is only 3.5 months old), but I am sure she will join in the fun next year.

Just a heads up:  I put 7 new products in my store at Digitals today!  Formerly parts of monthly challenge kits, they have been refreshed a little (some have additional elements and backgrounds) and they are all priced under $5!  How great is that?  Look for more of these economy-busters in the near future.  I will be working on them as time allows.

I have been trying to get my house in order and doing a few other craft projects as well as designing.  My fur babies are keeping me on my toes too!  They are very demanding of my attention.  Here are pics of each one:

Rustin is a Labrador Retriever/Weimaraner mix and Maggie is a French Bulldog (who thinks she is a Lab/Weimaraner mix).  They are both very smart but like to act like they are not.

HURRICANE ISAAC

Hello Friends,

Well, Mother Nature threw the proverbial monkey wrench into my bi-monthly featured kit events, but they will resume in October, so stay tuned here and on Facebook to see what is happening at Nini's Notions.

Most of you probably know that I live in S.E. Louisiana and we were right in the path of Hurricane Isaac.  Once again (thank God) our property was spared any major damage.  Tons of tree limbs and leaves to clear away but no damage to my residence.  However, many of my friends who live in subdivisions were not so fortunate and lost their furnishings and use of their homes due to the heavy unexpected flooding that had never happened before.  Many did not have flood insurance because they were told they were not in a flood zone.  We were without power for nearly 7 days.... some even longer.  Contact with others was sporadic.  Those who had smart phones were able to access Facebook periodically and let their friends and family know they were OK.  Text messaging was on and off.

Parish-wide (county-wide) cleanup is exceedingly slow.  Piles of downed trees and limbs and destroyed furniture line the streets of the subdivisions.  It will be a long time until life in our community returns to normal.  The very best news is that no lives were lost.  Hurricane season is not over yet.  Our local government has had a rude awakening with this Category 1 storm.  Even with all the technology available today you really never know until the very last minute what one of these monstrosities is going to do.  You need to expect the unexpected.... prepare for the worst possible scenario and hope for the best.  This was no Katrina, Rita or Gustave in terms of strength, but the devastation was just as bad, and the recovery time will be just as long.

Please pray for our residents and the trials they will be facing in the months ahead.  Thank you.
